Greetings from the AMPP Gujarat Chapter!

It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Chair of this dynamic and rapidly growing chapter of AMPP — The Association for Materials Protection and Performance.

The AMPP Gujarat Chapter, established on September 19, 2024, is now officially recognized as part of AMPP’s global network. Located in one of India’s leading industrial regions, Gujarat is a powerhouse of manufacturing — home to thriving chemical, petrochemical, refinery, and engineering sectors. Our chapter serves as a vital local extension of AMPP, committed to raising awareness and advancing practices in corrosion protection and control throughout the state.

Corrosion continues to be a critical challenge globally — causing damage to infrastructure, posing risks to public safety, and affecting operational efficiency and product quality. The global cost of corrosion is estimated at a staggering US$2.5 trillion, approximately 3.4% of global GDP. However, research and experience have shown that by adopting effective corrosion management strategies, we can potentially reduce these costs by up to 50% — all while extending the service life of essential assets.

Our mission at the Gujarat Chapter is to promote the understanding and application of corrosion control techniques, protective coatings, and materials integrity across industries, academia, and research institutions. We aim to cultivate a collaborative ecosystem where professionals, researchers, and students unite to share insights, solve problems, and drive innovation in materials protection.

Through technical workshops, student outreach initiatives, industry-academia collaborations, and events such as International Corrosion Awareness Day (ICAD), we continue to embody the vision of AMPP — protecting infrastructure and ensuring a safer, longer-lasting future.

In closing, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated AMPP Gujarat Chapter members and hardworking volunteers. Your support, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment are the foundation of our success. Let us move forward together, with a shared purpose and renewed energy, knowing that our collective vision for AMPP is taking shape — stronger, together.
